Chemotherapy vs radiotherapy: which method is more effective?

Both chemotherapy and radiotherapy are useful methods to identify cancerous tumors and reduce their threat sooner and before the cancer reaches later stages, but they do that in different ways. Also, various forms of cancer will respond differently to treatment. Statistics show that radiotherapy, however, is far more effective than chemotherapy when it comes to treating the most types of tumors, which is down mostly to the fact  that it destroys cancerous tumors before they spread and damage internal organs. But most doctors will prefer to start treatment with chemotherapy for more severe tumors so they can limit their size before exposing the patient to radiation.

Combination:
In some cases, your oncologist may suggest a combination of chemotherapy and radiation treatment. This approach may be particularly useful for patients with advanced stage cancer, where cancerous cells have spread to one or more organs beyond the organ where the cancer originated
